High Speed Internet Access

The library system has high-speed Internet computer workstations at most locations for your use. Access to the Internet is through OPLIN (Ohio Public Library Information Network) and requires that the user agree to the Acceptable Use Policy. The Library does not monitor and has no control over the information available on the Internet and is not responsible for its content.

Express Terminals

The library system has available some express terminals for public use. These express terminals have a limit of about 15 minute sessions that are ideal for you if you need to quickly check your e-mail or the latest news. These terminals are available at the Main Library (1), Shiappa Branch (3), and Toronto Branch (1).

Wireless Internet Access

The library system offers free wireless access to the internet at the Main Library as well as its branches of Adena, Schiappa, and Toronto. The Schiappa Branch has a brand new cafe area with access to vending machines with coffee, other beverages, and snacks. You can grab a seat, enjoy a snack or beverage, and cruise the internet.

Online Collection Search

The Online Collection is a computerized online catalog via the World Wide Web or via telnet listing materials found in The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County. Holdings include books, videos, compact discs, audiobooks, CD-ROMs, and magazines. The catalog can be searched by author, title, subject, or keyword. Patrons can reserve materials and will be contacted when the item becomes available.

E-Resources

The library maintains a page of Internet resources for our customers. The eResources page will be updated with timely links to information resources outside the library.

Acceptable Use Policy

Local and Federal laws require libraries to maintain an Acceptable Use Policy governing use of the public high speed Internet access computers.
